Vitamins and minerals are vital for health and wellness. Unfortunately, the supplement industry has taken advantage of this fundamental truth and turned micronutrients into a multi-billion dollar industry. While you may have clicked on this article to find out what kinds of vitamin or mineral brands to take, and at which specific quantities, this is ultimately an article about EATING MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. Fruits and vegetables contain all the essential micronutrients you will ever need to feel great and look good. They contain phytonutrients which may not be found in capsule form.

The micronutrients within them are components in what dieticians call the “food matrix” – a complex combination of molecules that allow for optimal absorption and utilization of vitamins and minerals. They contain fibre, which is essential for weight loss, gut and brain health, and immune function, among other things.
