hi there my name is Dennet and I’m the
00:02
perpetual fitness expert, I help people
00:04
just like you start a new fitness
00:06
routine and keep it up for a lifetime.
00:09
now today I’m going to talk about
00:11
intensity because I believe most people
00:13
got it wrong, because of all these
00:14
magazines, social media.  That no pain no
00:17
gain crap, that gets in the way of what
00:20
we really want.  Now if you’re already
00:23
working out for months, years on end, yeah
00:25
sure, intensity!  Go for it.  Fantastic! But if
00:28
you’re someone who’s a beginner, just
00:30
starting, or if you’re one of those
00:32
people who have trouble keeping up a
00:33
routine.  Intensity will only get in the
00:36
way.   We do not focus on intensity, we
00:39
focus on intensity last!  Not first.  So
00:42
what is the order?  What should be first?
00:44
First is longevity, we focus on longevity
00:47
first.  After longevity we focus on
00:50
frequency.  After frequency we focus on
00:53
duration. And after duration we focus on
00:56
intensity.  That’s the order.  So let’s use
00:59
examples, I love using examples.  I know
01:01
you guys too because it gives you
01:02
clarity, and with clarity we change the
01:04
way we think.  And then we change what we
01:06
do.  So let’s use brushing your teeth, we
01:08
can always use brushing your teeth
01:09
because that’s a good example that
01:11
everyone can relate to.  If you had to
01:13
choose, would you rather brush your teeth
01:16
once a week for the rest of your life, or
01:20
brush it every single day but only for
01:23
one week?  Of course, if you got to do it,
01:26
you’d rather brush your teeth once a
01:28
week for the rest of your life.
01:29
Longevity is more important than
01:32
frequency.  Number two, frequency is more
01:35
important than duration.  If you had to
01:37
choose, would you rather brush your teeth
01:39
every day for only two minutes,
01:43
or once a week for
01:47
an hour?  Once a week for an hour is
01:49
actually 60 minutes.
01:51
Every day for two minutes is only twelve.
01:53
But it is more effective, because it is
01:56
everyday.  So frequency is more important
01:59
than duration.  It is better to work out
02:02
and brush your teeth every day for a
02:04
shorter time than it is once in awhile
02:07
for a longer time.  And then the last one.
02:13
last one, duration is more important than
02:17
intensity.  For example, brushing your
02:19
teeth again.  If you had to choose, would
02:22
you rather brush your teeth gently for
02:24
two minutes, or as hard as you can for
02:26
ten seconds?  We brush our teeth gently
02:29
for two minutes.  Why? because it’s more
02:32
effective.  Actually brushing your teeth
02:34
as hard as you can for 10 seconds not
02:36
only is not as effective, it’s actually
02:38
damaging to your gums and teeth.  The same
02:40
thing with your body.  If you work out too
02:42
hard and you’re not ready for it, it’s
02:44
bad for your body.  So three things are
02:46
gonna happen.  If you’re not already
02:48
working out on a regular basis, you’re
02:50
either gonna push yourself so hard that
02:52
you don’t enjoy it so you’re not gonna
02:54
keep it up.  Not good.  Or two, you’re gonna
02:57
push yourself so hard that you get so
02:59
sore that you can’t work out on a
03:01
continuous basis.  That’s not good either.
03:03
or number three, you’re gonna push
03:05
yourself so hard that you get injured
03:06
and you can’t work out for a long time.
03:08
any one of those is a bad scenario
03:10
that’s a recipe for disaster! so we focus
03:13
on longevity first we focus on frequency
03:18
second we go to duration third and then
03:22
last is intensity.  After we’ve got those
03:25
other ones down, then we focus on
03:27
intensity.  So that all makes sense to you
03:29
subscribe below because I’m gonna do
03:31
videos like this every day.  Yes every day
03:34
I already committed to that so if you
03:36
get value out of this please share if
03:38
you think someone else could use to hear
03:39
this I’m gonna do this kind of videos
03:40
every day to help get a get us going and
03:43
yeah that’s it.  Boom!  I am out.
